Aleli Medina is a 16-year-old from Isabela, a surfing town on Puerto Rico’s northwest coast — and she’s making waves far beyond its shores. At just three months old, a cyst was discovered in the iris of her left eye. After multiple surgeries, Aleli lost all vision in that eye and is now partially visually impaired in her right.
Despite these challenges, Aleli has carved out a remarkable place in the sport. At only 13, she became the youngest athlete ever to win a para-surfing world championship — and brought home Puerto Rico’s first-ever medal in the sport.
Aleli pushes forward and is a living testament that Nothing Is Beyond Reach.
