What The Post Says

Mortgage Treasury is investing $100 million in Celligence and AngelAi. AngelAi has operated within Sun West since 2019, and she has brought the cost to manufacture a loan below $125, compared to the roughly $5,000 an average mortgage lender spends. Sun West has funded more than $40 billion in transactions, assisted more than 200,000 families, and built AngelAi, now used by more than 415,000 users. The investors had already committed $1 billion to purchase mortgages originated through AngelAi and Sun West before deciding to invest directly in AngelAi. Tomoyuki Nakano, Board Member of Mortgage Treasury, joined in marking the announcement.

Why It Matters

A direct investment lets AngelAi extend her cost savings to more lenders and homeowners, not only within Sun West. This is capital following years of results in loan volume, users, and cost reduction, arriving after the idea already proved itself. The investors moved deliberately. They studied the financials, tested the technology, and watched AngelAi perform on real transactions before committing $1 billion to purchase mortgages, and only then chose to invest directly. AngelAi is described as the "Home of Fair Lending," a claim tied to the goal that started this work: making access to credit faster, fairer, and less expensive.
